I upgraded my Thinkpad (it has 945GM graphics) from 11.2 to 12.1 (clean install) a few months ago and have been having strange display problems. After a period of usage, the display gets corrupted. Symptoms include:

1) xv output stops working, I just get a transparent screen.

2) Fonts in Firefox and other apps start messing up - letters do not render for example.

Xorg.0.log has over 5000 entries with the following error (this is the first occurrence)
[148096.264] (WW) intel(0): intel_uxa_prepare_access: bo map failed: Cannot allocate memory

/var/log/messages contains a related error:

kernel: [149118.728073] [drm:i915_hangcheck_elapsed] *ERROR* Hangcheck timer elapsed... GPU hung
kernel: [149118.728086] [drm] capturing error event; look for more information in /debug/dri/0/i915_error_state

(The file i915_error_state is attached)

Reproducible: Sometimes

openSUSE 12.1 is no longer supported. Hence the issue won't be fixed for this product. In case the issue still is reproducable with a supported product (openSUSE 12.3/13.1 at the moment) or with openSUSE:Factory, please feel free to reopen. Thanks.
