This problem is 4 months old:
http://forums.opensuse.org/english/get-technical-help-here/pre-release-beta/471138-factory-kde-live-cds-do-not-install.html

I opened a thread in the Factory list as "Opensuse 12.2 M3 and M4 is getting
worse", with this title to have a little attention about it, but
nothing happened.

They are a topic "Status: M3", with this text:

           Just a short update: The x86-64 media look fine but the
i686 have broken
           metadata or contents, installation is not possible at all with them.

       I tried the KDE Live CD x86_64 Build 315 on a VirtualBox VM. It fails
       the same way that the i686 version does with the following:

       Loading KIWI CD Boot-System...
       ------------------------------
       Creating device nodes with udev
       /sbin/udevd: error while loading shared libraries: libkmod.so.2: cannot
       open shared object file: No such file or directory
       /sbin/udevadm: <Same error message>
       /sbin/udevadm: <Same error message>
       [ 0.983960] Searching for boot device in Application ID...............
       [ 75.614699] Failed to find MBR identifier !
       [ 75.635841] rebootException: error consoles at Alt-F3/F4
       [ 75.649460] rebootException: reboot in 120 sec...

       It appears that libkmod.so.2 is not available. On the VM, I have not
       been able to access the error console.

   Yeah, those are totally broken. Anybody interested in looking into this?

Know and fixed issue, we need a new version of KIWI in Factory. SR is
pending.... anyone with the appropriate powers just needs to pull this
into Factory ;)

fixed issue??????

The boot image, for opensuse 12.2, appear to be from opensuse 12.1:
http://forums.opensuse.org/english/get-technical-help-here/pre-release-beta/471138-factory-kde-live-cds-do-not-install.html

[ 6.59949] Activating Image: [/cdrom/openSUSE-12.1-livecd-kde.x64_64-2.8.0]

I placed the pictures of the screen of my computer, with the same
problem on the topic: "Opensuse 12.2 M3 and M4 is getting worse"

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Place the KDE-LiveCD-x86_64 opensuse 12.2 CD on the CD or DVD drive of Your computer.
2. Restart Your computer and select on menu KDE Live
3. On the screen of Your computer, You can see the problem
Actual Results:
Tryed to add nomodeset, or pci=nmosi on the boot parameters, without results

Expected Results:
KDE Live must load KDE

data loss? how?
Comment 2 Juan Erbes 2012-05-13 22:16:20 UTC
Who lost data?

I tryed to install openSUSE-DVD-Build0315-x86_64, and because fails to load the istallation system, later tryed to boot adding to the boot parameters "nomodeset", and"pci=nomsi", and the problem continued.

Then I tryed the Live versions openSUSE-KDE-LiveCD-x86_64-Build0350,
openSUSE-KDE-LiveCD-x86_64-Build0357. With the first 2, I triyed in 2
computers, my computer with a Gigabyte 880GM-USB3 mobo and a SATA DVD
writer Liteon. In other computer with a ASROCK 880GM-LE FX mobo with a
SATA DVD writer LG, and in the 2 computers the M3 version of CD or
DVD, will not work.

The only acceptable version without problems in the begining of the boot and install process was the opensuse NET instal build 359, but I have no time to complete the installation, becuase my internet connection is slow, only 600 kbits/sec, and it represents about 60 kbytes/sec of download data at top speed.

Problem is solved in the meantime.

Downloaded 12.2.beta, received openSUSE-KDE-LiveCD-Build0451-x86_64.iso. Burnt to CD and booted to CD.

Initial splash screen OK. Kernel loaded OK followed by lines:
====
MP-BIOS Bug 8254 Timer not connected to IO-APIC
Loading Kiwi Boot System
-----------------------------------
Creating device nodes with udev
====
Followed by nothing. The CD reader eventually spins down. I tried again using the NO APIC and SAFE kernel modes. These runs got further but then failed with:
====
....
Command line read:  splashy
Command line read:  boot
ERROR (something) splash_start_splashy.  Error -3
worker[314] timeout. killed.
====
I then started to get device errors of the form:
====
devd[303] seq 445 'device?pci0000:00/00:08.0' killed

David, this is really supposed to be fixed in beta2 - if not, let's start with a fresh bugreport.
