Bug 768560

Summary: The latest kernel update (to 3.1.10) breaks both hibernate and suspend to RAM on Dell Latitude E6320

Description Claus Wilke 2012-06-23 22:18:24 UTC
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64) AppleWebKit/537.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/21.0.1145.0 Safari/537.1 SUSE/21.0.1145.0

Both suspend to disk and suspend to RAM work fine on my Dell Latitude E6320 with Opensuse 12.1 kernels up to 3.1.9. However, the latest update, to 3.1.10 and released a few days ago, breaks both suspend to RAM and suspend to disk. The computer just hangs upon initiating the suspend process.

This is particularly unfortunate since this update finally fixes the ALPS track pad on this laptop.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Initiate suspend to RAM or hibernate.

Actual Results:
Computer hangs and needs to be switched off manually.

Expected Results:
Suspend or hibernation should proceed as normal.

Bug 768553 seems to be the same issue. Sorry for not seeing this earlier.

I'm seeing this too on a Compaq Presario CQ60 running openSuSE 12.1 x86_64, since installing the latest kernel update.

I am having the same problem. Sleep/suspend-to-RAM does not work.
The computer freezes and I have to do a hard power off and reboot
to get it back. I am running OpenSUSE 12.1 on a Dell Precision
M6300 laptop. The kernel that fails is kernel-default
3.1.10-1.13.1. I have reverted to kernel-default 3.1.10-1.9.1
which works fine.

BTW, this bug is duplicated in the following bugs as well:

#764864
#768553
#768483

Somebody with the appropriate credentials needs to mark these
bugs as duplicates.

FYI,
