I tried to install our commercial software on openSuse 12.2 beta2 to see if it will work here as it did with all the last versions.
(The software is still built on an RHEL5 distribution)

Unfortunately it does not, due to the missing libtiff3 library.

Can this (old) version please be included - at least into some "old software compatibility libs" package ?

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.
2.
3.

we need a way to come up with such a package or an extra repo for this purpose. But I don't want to maintain libtiff3 sources forever
Comment 2 Petr Gajdos 2012-07-02 08:29:08 UTC
JFYI, graphics/tiff3 exists for now.
Comment 3 Stephan Kulow 2012-07-18 07:28:29 UTC
Ismail, please take care of setting up a openSUSE:12.2:Compat project that contains aggregates for all libraries from 12.1 that no longer exist in 12.2. While doing that consider compat* packages to be dropped.

Write a script or something, so we can track that for Factory later on too.
Comment 4 Ismail Dönmez 2012-07-24 14:50:48 UTC
Created home:namtrac:compat project as a proof of concept. _aggregate files are automatically generated.

See https://build.opensuse.org/project/show?project=home:namtrac:compat
Comment 5 Bernhard Wiedemann 2014-09-14 13:27:52 UTC
graphics/tiff3 still builds the old lib for new versions of openSUSE,
so let us count this one as closed
