Description David Kerkhof 2012-07-22 15:27:04 UTC
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:13.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/13.0.1

To manage the way scpm works there is this profile-manager. It seems a recent update makes it now crash. Message:

YaST got signal 11 at YCP file ProfileManager.ycp:3
/sbin/yast2: regel 427: 4986 Segmentatiefout $ybindir/y2base $module "$@" "$SELECTED_GUI" $Y2_GEOMETRY $Y2UI_ARGS

This is also the same when trying to start from terminal with --qt, --gtk and --ncurses. I can't find any other messages in var/log/messages and dmesg also had nothing to say about it.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.
2.
3.

The backtrace in signal looks like a duplicate of bug #765769. Does profile-manager use the package selector?
Comment 4 David Kerkhof 2012-07-27 17:31:57 UTC
I don't think profile-manager uses the package selector but I am not sure since I don't know the internals, but it does check init files. The result of this bug and of bug #765769 seem to be the same. I have had packagekit crash when I wanted to upgrade or uninstall a package that had a dependency, i.e. when first selecting the language part of a package for uninstalling it crashed, but when first selecting the main package file it would not crash because there was no dependency. Hope this explanation helps to solve the problems.

Try to download fresh yast2-profile-manager from Factory, it should help.
Comment 6 David Kerkhof 2012-08-04 06:59:46 UTC
I couldn't find it, but now that I updated to RC2 it works, problem solved. Thanks!

So it's done.
