This seems to be a duplicate of Bug 774370 However the suggested resolution of using Tumbleweed seems inappropriate. I think it would be better to either restore the 3.5.0-1 kernels to the repository, or include an appropriate mkinitrd if one does not exist in the maintained (updated) openSuSE verions.
