This bug is new compared to openSUSE-11.3:
For a machine that has no Internet connection, Yast refuses to locate updates in a local update repository (that is mirrored from the Internet). Instead Yast shows a message like "Update repositories weren't confugured. Start configuration now?"
Naturally for a machine without Internet connection, running the initial configuration would not help.
Actually I did temporarily connect the machine to Internet, ran the initial configuration, and the disabled the Internet repositories again (that step is necessary to make online_update work at all). Only the installation "cd" and the local repository on an USB stick is activated.
However Yast does not display any updates.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Add a local update repository (USB stick)
2. Disable Internet repositories
3. run "yast2 online_update"
Actual Results:
No updates were found

Expected Results:
Updates should be found

When doing "zypper lu", zypper finds the updates.

Um, this is strange, the updates should be find regardless of repository location and should work with local repos...
Comment 2 Ulrich Windl 2012-09-20 06:33:40 UTC
It may be strange, but it's repeatable for this specific machine. I had a comparable (not the same) problem in SLES11 SP2 where the virtual installation media in a VM couldn't be accessed. Then Yast popped up the same dialog (after ignoring the error popups), even though network repositories had been found. In the reported case, however, no error pop up before that.

Sorry, I didn't find time for this bug, I'm closing it as WONTFIX...

If you can still reproduce it in the latest openSUSE then reopen, thank you!
