In kde4 there is a useful feature (I think it's related to kdelibs) that permit to open a remote file using kio_slave example i.e. smb://

I have a situation where a fileserver is hosting office documents so normally I need to open a document remotely (using libreoffice), modify it and then save it back.

If you do this one file at a time, system download a copy locally, libreoffice open it, I modify, save back and then system ask me if I want to upload back modified document and all work as expected.

But if I have more document opened, system don't ask me to upload back the modified document and I loose without any advise the updates.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
0. start libreoffice
1. open a document locally or remotely
2. modify it
3. open a document remotely
4. modify it
5. save it (you have modified a remote document that you would like to upload)
6. open another document
7. close the document opened at point 3 (libreoffice doesn't ask anything as you have already saved locally the modified document)
8. close all the remainder documents
9. you will notice that updates made on document 3 aren't synced to server

Yes, I can see this problem on openSUSE 12.2 with lo 3.5 and an ordinary samba share. I am not 100% sure the problem is related with kio or libreoffice.

Hi Lubos, would you help to comment it please, thank you!

This is pretty much doable only together with bug #575182.
