Description Marc Schütz 2012-10-06 10:26:08 UTC
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:15.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/15.0.1

From time to time, the following note appears in /var/log/messages (probably triggered by DHCP lease renewal):

systemd-hostnam[28312]: Warning: nss-myhostname is not installed. Changing the local hostname might make it unresolveable. Please install nss-myhostname!

This is of course easily solved by "zypper install nss-myhostname", but if this packaged is needed, it should probably be added as a requirement to some RPM, so that it is installed automatically.

Reproducible: Always

Ludwig, you looked at it. It's minor, but perhaps we should remove the warning if it's pointless.
Comment 2 Ludwig Nussel 2013-02-15 13:29:35 UTC
sr#155527

The use case for nss-myhostname is just plain bogus as is the warning. Since it was invented by the same guy as systemd I doubt he would remove the warning.
Reassigning to Frederic to decide whether to integrate the patch in our package.

I'm fine with removing the warning. Could you resend the sr, based on AJ comment ?

Thanks.
