I'm not sure if the issue is with the kernel driver or with GNOME, however gnome-shell segfaults with the below message (see excerpt from /var/log/messages):

I can't positively confirm this but I believe the error happens only after the computer returns from either hibernation or suspension.

After the crash, as I return to my session, gnome-shell takes a large amount of CPU resources even after restarting gnome-shell. Under normal circumstances, gnome-shell takes a minimum amount of CPU.

openSUSE 12.2 is no longer supported. Hence the issue won't be fixed for this product. In case the issue still is reproducable with a supported product (openSUSE 12.3/13.1 at the moment) or with openSUSE:Factory, please feel free to reopen. Thanks.
