Description Forgotten User QyZvPiaduJ 2013-02-19 18:20:56 UTC
The current YaST module for VNC (remote administration) allows a user to set up Xvnc, which provides a virtual display :1 on port 5901 (or :2 on 5902, etc.), allowing a parallel graphical session from remote.

Many Windows users will be accustomed to VNC allowing a remote user to "see what's happening on the [physical] monitor", in other words, remote access to display :0 through port 5900.

This can be accomplished easily with x11vnc, available as a package in the openSUSE distribution. x11vnc can run from a SysV init script, with a password file from vncpassd similar to Xvnc.

It would be great if the YaST VNC module also allowed a quick setup of x11vnc.

Hi, sorry currently there is no plan nor resources to support two backends for vnc setup. Only possible way is to replace one with other, but it have to be discussed. So if you still think it make sense to replace Xvnc with x11vnc as default backend for yast, please open feature at https://features.opensuse.org/
