Description Greg Freemyer 2013-02-25 20:35:27 UTC
+++ This bug was initially created as a clone of Bug #758677 +++

== Cloned because the bug still exists in openSUSE 12.3 RC1 ==

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:11.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/11.0

OS: opensuse 12.3 RC1

Package: Firefox-18.0.2-1.1.1

DTE: KDE 4.10.0 (from 12.3 main repo)

As a normal user I just attempted to add a log file as an attachment to a bugzilla. The log file was owned by root and had 0600 permissions, so I did not have permissions to read it.

When I attempted to submit the bugzilla attachment, firefox did not respond at all. By chance I tried the same process from windows where Firefox informed me I did not permission to read the file.

After changing the permissions to 0644, firefox on opensuse had no problem submitting the attachment.

Reproducible: Didn't try

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create a simple text file
2. chown it to root, chmod it to 0600
3. Try to attach it to this bugzilla entry as an attachment
4. I assume firefox will sit silently.
5. chmod the file to 0644 and try to submit again. It should work this time.
Actual Results:
silent failure

Expected Results:
An error message should in some way pop up and inform the user they don't have read permission on the file they are trying to submit.

Don't think we need the separate bug reports any more.
