Description Robert Schweikert 2013-03-22 13:26:34 UTC
Building a VM with openSUSE 12.3 that is supposed to enter runlevel 3 does not show the login prompt after boot. THe splash screen is displayed giving the appearance the "machine" is hung.

To reproduce build the suse-vm-guest example provided with kiwi then run

qemu-kvm PATH_TO_IMAGE.raw

Booting with console=ttyS0 and then rebooting with the log set to debug one can obtain the following error:

[drm:cirrus_vram_init] *ERROR* can't reserve VRAM
cirrus 0000:00:02.0: Fatal error during GPU init: -6
Failed to apply ACL on /dev/dri/card0: No such file or directory

This analysis was done by Frederic.

Booting with nomodset avoids the boot blocking issue
