The only question is what version should be used. SLES 11 SP2 and SP3 have 2.0.873. openSUSE is currently at version 2.0.870, with patches. Also problematic: looks like there are 32 patches. Once we update to a new version as a base (such as 2.0.873), each one of these patches will potentially need to be ported to the new code base. This may prove non-trivial for a few of them. Another point: should we upgrade to 2.0.873 as present in SLES, or 2.0.873+patches, as present in the public open-iscsi repository, or might Mike Christie be coming out with a new version of open-iscsi soon, such that we should wait for that new version? I would like to update openSUSE:12.3 open-iscsi to the version available in SLES 11 SP3, if that is acceptable. This is version 2.0.873 with patches for SUSE. A new version of open-iscsi is about to come out, and my plan is to update openSUSE:13.1 and openSUSE:Factory open-iscsi with that version, once available. its your call... we usually suggest that the packaging and configuration stays compatible during the upgrade, otherwise minor version updates like this are fine. just submit a maintenancerequest I have created an openSUSE-12.3 branch for the git repository, but I have not yet committed it to the github master repository. I will do that as soon as the package is accepted for openSUSE 12.3. I will also update openSUSE Factory at time, as well. This bug fix will also include the fix for bnc#630434 for openSUSE 12.3 and Factory. Changes submitted to build service for openSUSE 12.3 maint update. Submitted last week to opensuse build service as maint req 181214. Note that my submitted changes will not update open-iscsi to work with systemd, so cloning this bug so that this may be tracked as a separate issue. openSUSE-RU-2013:1172-1: An update that has 45 recommended fixes can now be installed.
