Description Dr. Werner Fink 2013-05-24 16:57:13 UTC
+++ This bug was initially created as a clone of Bug #809821 +++

> Werner: I think you guess is correct -- the open-iscsi.service must have come
> from an init file name /etc/init.d/open-iscsi, which should not be there.
>
> I believe this bug can be closed ...
>
> As for your second question, the open-iscsi on openSUSE needs to be updated.
>
> If you'd like, please file a bug on that second issue and set me as the

... as well as the boot scheme should be forwarded to modern systemd.
Comment 1 Lee Duncan 2013-05-24 21:27:57 UTC
The only question is what version should be used. SLES 11 SP2 and SP3 have 2.0.873. openSUSE is currently at version 2.0.870, with patches.

Also problematic: looks like there are 32 patches. Once we update to a new version as a base (such as 2.0.873), each one of these patches will potentially need to be ported to the new code base. This may prove non-trivial for a few of them.

Another point: should we upgrade to 2.0.873 as present in SLES, or 2.0.873+patches, as present in the public open-iscsi repository, or might Mike Christie be coming out with a new version of open-iscsi soon, such that we should wait for that new version?
Comment 2 Lee Duncan 2013-05-29 23:05:12 UTC
I would like to update openSUSE:12.3 open-iscsi to the version available in SLES 11 SP3, if that is acceptable. This is version 2.0.873 with patches for SUSE.

A new version of open-iscsi is about to come out, and my plan is to update openSUSE:13.1 and openSUSE:Factory open-iscsi with that version, once available.
Comment 3 Marcus Meissner 2013-05-31 13:14:14 UTC
its your call...

we usually suggest that the packaging and configuration stays compatible during the upgrade, otherwise minor version updates like this are fine.

just submit a maintenancerequest
Comment 4 Lee Duncan 2013-06-27 15:09:38 UTC
I have created an openSUSE-12.3 branch for the git repository, but I have not yet committed it to the github master repository. I will do that as soon as the package is accepted for openSUSE 12.3. I will also update openSUSE Factory at time, as well.

This bug fix will also include the fix for bnc#630434 for openSUSE 12.3 and Factory.
Comment 5 Lee Duncan 2013-06-27 15:27:41 UTC
Changes submitted to build service for openSUSE 12.3 maint update.
Comment 6 Lee Duncan 2013-07-01 16:58:30 UTC
Submitted last week to opensuse build service as maint req 181214.
Comment 7 Lee Duncan 2013-07-01 17:04:09 UTC
Note that my submitted changes will not update open-iscsi to work with systemd, so cloning this bug so that this may be tracked as a separate issue.
