When selecting slideshow for the login screen, it doesn't work. A work around, by commenting lines 84 to 91 on "/usr/share/kde4/apps/kdm/read_sysconfig.sh", used to work but even this wor around doesn't work anymore.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Select slideshow in "System Settings->Login Screen->Background"
2. Logout (or reboot, doesn't matter!)
3. Login screen is stuck with default login screen (from inital boot after installation)
4. Comment lines 84-91 of /usr/share/kde4/apps/kdm/read_sysconfig.sh (old work around)
5. Login screen is stuck with blue stripes, no slide show
Actual Results:
The login screen is stuck with default login screen (from inital boot after installation)

Expected Results:
The login screen should have changed to slide show after sterps 1, 2 above or, after step 4 if work around is used.

The systemsettings KCM modul is known to conflict with /etc/sysconfig/displaymanager. Marking this one as duplicate of the general bug for this confilct.

*** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 267903 ***

Just trying to understand. If this is a duplicate of bug 267903, which has been around for 7 years, why is that it used to work up to opensuse 12.1 and now it is not woking?

Best regards,

You can adjust your wanted KDM theme in /etc/sysconfig/displaymanger. That is the point of the original bug report, that adjusting settings in kcm takes no effect.
