If you configure a DSL interface with user control, both smpppd and qinternet are mandatory. Either it should be installed by default as it is only small or the checkbox "Erlaube Gerätesteuerung ohne root-Rechte mit Qinternet" should be off by default.
If something goes wrong with the installation the system tries endlessly to install smpppd without success. As it is quite normal that something goes wrong initially, this behaviour is boring - and not neccessary.

Thank you for looking into this!

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Install DSL via Yast2
2.Keep Checkbox active and have something go wrong
3.
Actual Results:
You end up in an endless attempt of yast to install both smpppd and qinternet. If something with the installation might go wrong, this is something to happen quite often and is very boring.

Expected Results:
Maybe one single message that the installation of smpppd has failed because of a failed connection, but not an endless loop of attempts to install something that is currently not available, implying that this is the root cause of failure though it is only a consequence of the failed connection.

Michal, IIRC DSL support will be (or already was?) dropped.
Comment 2 Michal Filka 2013-11-11 10:36:00 UTC
DSL is going to be separated from network. It will be provided to community and it will not be maintained anymore.

If time permits, I'll fix it during separation process.
Comment 3 Michal Filka 2014-01-21 13:23:38 UTC
By the way, smpppd was dropped as well. yast2-network shouldn't require it since 3.1.15
Comment 4 Josef Reidinger 2016-10-20 13:51:19 UTC
so lets close it
