Description Forgotten User ejMWOwG0rh 2013-12-15 08:42:40 UTC
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:25.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/25.0

I use openSUSE localized with Russian language. If I choose console login (Alt+N in authorization), Russian symbols look like squares.

The remedy for this is setting the console font to Cyrillic one.

I use this:

$ setfont /usr/share/kbd/consolefonts/UniCyr_8x16.psf.gz

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Set your UI language to Russian
2. Choose console login in the login form
3. Observe the absence of any non-Latin symbols on the screen
Actual Results:
I see squares instead of non-Latin characters.

Expected Results:
Not applicable

This seems not to be bug against kbd -> don't assign to Stanislav. Marking as duplicate of bug with same symptoms.

This bug has been marked as a duplicate of https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=780516#c31

In the discussion of the bug, there was suggested to create a separate bug, that's why I'm reopening it. Many years of discussion and posting bug reports haven't brought us even nearly to fixation of it, despite the fact that I posted the solution long time ago.

Ok, sorry.

However, as I wrote in comment 1, it seems that it is not bug in kbd, as setfont works.

Thomas?

Is this against 13.1 or 13.2? Please correct meta data of the bug (see top).

If 13.1, please resolve won't fix.

If 13.2, please use latest maintenance update. Hm it might be worth to wait some more days, there is an update in the queue.
Comment 5 Thomas Renninger 2015-10-02 08:22:28 UTC
This won't get fixed for 13.1.
In 13.2 there is another mechanism, there it might be worth to look at it.
