Description Forgotten User SpTvqxsYZX 2014-03-13 05:14:32 UTC
User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:27.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/27.0

In the launcher search box, I type in partition, and the entry kde partition manager shows in the results. However, when I click this, I get "Cannot execute command 'partitionmanager'"

This entry shouldn't show up in the results if it does not work.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:

So you do not have partionmanager installed. Did you have it installed before and unistalled it shortly before the problem occured first?
Can you try to reproduce it with a new user?
Comment 5 Tomáš Chvátal 2015-12-04 12:59:19 UTC
The command partitionmanager can't be launched if partition manager is not installed. That is quite expected behaviour.
Comment 6 Forgotten User SpTvqxsYZX 2015-12-05 01:19:23 UTC
It is expected behaviour to show programs in the menu that aren't installed?
Comment 7 Tomáš Chvátal 2015-12-05 09:38:08 UTC
How does it suggest it?

It uses nepomuk/baloo search so it shows even the documents and files, not just executables.

Take screenshot, record a video if you must, but simply proofcase what paritionmanager you see and why do you think it is wrong.

Otherwise it is still worksforme. On all machines I can't find a squat about partitionmanager displayed.

This seems like a vital information in regard of this issue, I wonder why you did not mention it before.

Are you incooperative on purpose or just completely unaware what you are doing.

This is correct behaviour. The krunner lets you write anything in the box and let you try to execute it.

What is more imporant is what you wrote in the box. Which is what I said you should provide the screenshot for.

You stated that you see not installed program in menu, perhaps such screenshot would be more useful - if you actually see something which is not installed there.

I am pretty sure that not installed entries should not show up is a bug.

Ok this seems to be caused by likely some leftover desktop file.

Furthermore, I would like to mention that, as is visible in comments in this report, and you have done this in other reports which I have seen as well - you omitted important information about what is happening and have mentioned them after issue was being solved for some time - in this case, first comment should contain something like:
"although partitionmanager is not installed I see its icon in menu"

Instead statement that partitionmanager does not work is not only misleading but actually incorrect - how can you know that it's not working if it's not even installed?

What does following return?
# find /usr -iname *PartitionManager.desktop

It was installed, over a year ago when the bug was reported.

If it gets removed, shouldn't the menu entry also get removed at the same time?

Ok, comment#3 says otherwise - so you:
1) reported issue
2) don't reply for needinfo for 4 weeks
3) uninstall package which was supposedly causing issues
4) reply to needinfo but with useless informations
5) provide some more screenshots (presumably with partitionmanager also not installed, so again useless)

I am not sure what are you expectations from this report but so far we are just wasting time here.

Could you
1) install partitionmanager
2) try whatever is supposed to be issue
3) provide screenshot?
