Which kernel version? Does the problem still remain in the 13.2 release kernel? If yes, could you check whether 3.17 or 3.18 still has the same problem? If it's not fixed, we need to report to upstream. Thanks. Today it happened again on 13.2 final (3.16.4-9.g7a8842b-desktop): [Do Nov 20 20:17:02 2014] wlp2s0: AP 9c:c7:a6:43:16:87 changed bandwidth, new config is 2462 MHz, width 2 (2452/0 MHz) [Do Nov 20 20:17:39 2014] iwlwifi 0000:02:00.0: fail to flush all tx fifo queues Q 2 [Do Nov 20 20:17:39 2014] iwlwifi 0000:02:00.0: Current SW read_ptr 137 write_ptr 219 [Do Nov 20 20:17:39 2014] iwl data: 00000000: 00 fe ff 01 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ................ Which kernel package should I try exactly? At first try the kernel in OBS Kernel:openSUSE-13.2 repo. It already contains the backport to stabilize iwlwifi issues. If it still doesn't work, give hwinfo output, and check Kernel:stable and Kernel:HEAD repos. 3.16.7-13.gb834837-desktop doesn't help. It doesn't dump the excessive debug output like before but there are still hangs.

Please give the full hwinfo output, not the stripped one. Also give the full dmesg output, too. In anyway, try the kernel package in OBS home:tiwai:os13.2-ckt1 repo. This contains backports by Ubuntu and it has a couple of more iwlwifi-related fixes. Then the only hope is to try 3.18 kernel with the latest kernel-firmware package including the iwlwifi firmware udpates. If the same problem still happens there, please report it to bugzilla.kernel.org. I found that kernel-firmware package on 13.2 was a snapshot of 20140903, while there was an update of iwlwifi firmware after that (Sep 12). Could you just try to upgrade kernel-firmware package from FACTORY before trying other kernel packages? It's much better with the updated firmware. There are still hangs every once in a while. The "changed bandwidth" lines are still in dmesg but cause no issue usually. This is an autogenerated message for OBS integration: This bug (900815) was mentioned in https://build.opensuse.org/request/show/267157 13.2 / kernel-firmware If this still occurs, please reopen. |
