KDM on system boot is at full brightness so no problem there - problem is only evident on selecting "log out" see discussion here in openSUSE forums https://forums.opensuse.org/showthread.php/502162-KDM-very-dark-on-logout *** Bug 904560 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** Created attachment 613105 [details]
KDM on boot and logout
On system boot KDM is displayed correctly (full brightness)
However, from within KDE, selecting "Logout" from the KDE menu logs the system out and takes you to aa very dim KDM screen.
Using my system in daylight at first I thought my system had shut down but on closer look could see that there was a KDM screen present but very dimly lit.
sorry - image quality is a bit poor but you can see full contrast on the left from system boot and low contrast on the right after logging out.
Same here with: Name: kdm Version: 4.11.15-13.20 Arch: x86_64 After logout the screen is as dark as it can get. Hitting keys or using th mouse or clicking with the mouse doesn't change the background brightness. But as soon as I use the special hotkey on my Lenovo Thinkpad T400s for raising the brightness it is restored to full brightnes instantly. . . .

oh, yes.
Confirmed I see the same behaviour on a thinkpad SL510
this bug is not present in Leap 42.1 Ok. Lets consider this fixed by updating to Leap. I really have no clue what could happen there to reset this... |
