Description Peter Sütterlin 2015-04-17 11:08:33 UTC
I run a fresh installed OS 13.2 including updates, using BTRFS for /. The system is a laptop which I carry between home and work, and only suspend/resume it for commuting.
After each resume the HD LED starts blinking like mad for typically 1-1.5 hours. If I check the activity
  echo 1 > /proc/sys/vm/block_dump
the syslog shows tons of entries like

Apr 17 11:57:09 snoopy kernel: kworker/u4:4(13640): WRITE block 23285856 on sdb2 (8 sectors)

sdb2 is my (btrfs) root partition. As it is on an SSD, I am NOT very pleased with this permanent writing. What is it? How can I find out?

Hi Kernel-maintainers, I'm really not sure whether it is right to assign it to you, please feel free to reassign whenever necessary, thank you!

Maybe David has an idea on what is going on here?

This version of openSUSE changed to end-of-life (EOL [1]) status. As such
it is no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any
further security or bug fix updates.
As a result we are closing this bug.

If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of
openSUSE, or consider the bug still valid, please feel free to reopen this
bug against that version, or open a new ticket.

Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed
during the lifetime of the release.
