Trying to setup a minimal root fs here and it seems that the package is pulling too many packages: kernel-xen, dracut, mdadm, etc...

It might be due to patterns-openSUSE-minimal_base that requires patterns-openSUSE-base somehow.

BTW, it doesn't seem to happen on Tumbleweed.
