Install kde-l10n-de, and dolphin (and other KDE applications) should be translated. Apparently this is not installed by default, even if you select "German" as language in the installer (probably the same with other languages though). I guess YaST still tries to install the old kde4-l10n-de package, which doesn't exist any more... Just tried it out with openSUSE-Tumbleweed-NET-i586-Snapshot20151014-Media.iso and it looks like it is a bug in the installer - the package kde-l10n-de is not selected for installation. (In reply to Arnold Mesper from comment #2) > Just tried it out with > openSUSE-Tumbleweed-NET-i586-Snapshot20151014-Media.iso and it looks like it > is a bug in the installer - the package kde-l10n-de is not selected for > installation. Yes, the Tumbleweed installer has a general problem with installing the translations, i.e. it only installs the english files regardless of what language you select. (also for other things like GTK, YaST, Firefox, ...). That's tracked as Bug#945039, which should be fixed already actually, but the fix hasn't made it into Tumbleweed yet. Note that this does not affect the Plasma5 desktop to some degree because of a different problem: some translation files are part of the package bundle-lang-kde-en for *all* languages. Going into YaST->Software Management->View->Languages and installing the language there should work and install the corresponding packages. The question now is: does this install kde-l10n-de (or whatever language you select) or not? If yes, this is a duplicate of Bug#945039. If not, there's another problem, specific to the KDE packages, not the Installer in general. The installation log should reveal what actually happened. Please attach the yast logfiles (see http://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Bugreport_YaST) I did a fresh Tumbleweed installation today (the latest snapshot finally contains the fixed libzypp mentioned in Bug#945039), selected "German" at the installer's boot menu, and all necessary translation package were installed automatically, including kde-l10n-de. And yes, dolphin was translated too (and all other things that are untranslated in the attached screenshot)... So I suppose this can be closed? Then let's close it. *** Bug 950860 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** I suppose we don't need any information here anymore... |
Created attachment 652013 [details] missing translation for Dolphin I installed KDE with German language settings, but Dolphin is shown in English (see screenshot).
