Daniel, could you look into this please? 1. There is no need to update unless we broke the kABI (SUSE weak-updates mechanism). So most likely this is a non-issue. 2. First NVIDIA needs to look into boo#954725. Jaroslav, please explain, why you think this is an issue. Thanks. Because nvidia driver stopped working after kernel upgrade, I had to use drivers from http://www.nvidia.com/object/unix.html . I hoped I could switch back with new version in nvidia repo. Ok. Let's first resolve bnc#954725. I'm not convincet yet we really broke the kABI. bnc#954725 has been fixed. Could you please update the NVIDIA repo and reinstall the NVIDIA drivers? Thanks! Basically, with zypper: # add/reenable the nvidia repo zypper ref <your nvidia repo> zypper inr -r <your nvidia repo> > zypper inr -r download.nvidia.com-leap Zypper complains, that file './x86_64/nvidia-gfxG03-kmp-default-340.93_k4.1.12_1-36.7.x86_64.rpm' is now found at media 'http://download.nvidia.com/opensuse/leap/42.1' Ok. Seems repodate/repomd.xml* files have not been updated yet. :-( I tried it on two PCs, first had last kernel and drivers from nvidia, second old kernel and old drivers from repo until now (both upgraded now). Both are working well after reboot, nvidia drivers are running, so it seems kABI is ok and real problem was those second bug. Thanx for help:). Ok. Closing as duplicate. Thanks for retesting! *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 954725 *** |
