After trying again a few times, I've figured out that the problem is that snapper does not recognize the ext4 file system. My root file system is ext4. Seems odd to me, but I'm not sure how to get past this stage and complete my upgrade. I did some research and discovered that use of snapper with ext4 is discouraged. I had a problem with btrfs on my root partition when I first set up the system and converted back to ext4. Is there a way to continue the install without converting my root partition to btrfs? It's not clear how you "converted back to ext4". But apparently snapper is still configured for your root filesystem. You can try to remove /etc/snapper/configs/root and remove "root" from SNAPPER_CONFIGS in /etc/sysconfig/snapper. Then restart the update. It's been a few years, but I think I did a fresh install after reformatting the partition to ext4. The config for root in snapper said ext4, but snapper could not recognize ext4 as a valid file system (as indicated in the log file attached). I find that odd, but your suggestion of removing the config for snapper worked and I am now upgraded to Leap. Thanks for your help. |
Created attachment 663863 [details] y2log file from installation I'm trying to upgrade from opensuse 13.1 to leap 42.1. I have the image loaded to a usb device and boot from that. When the installation gets to mounting the file systems, it fails and recommends that i submit a bug report. The log seems to indicate that it does not know what the filesystem 'ext4' is. I have attached the y2log as recommended by the error. The onscreen errors include: Internal error. Please report a bug with logs. Details: Filesystem snapshot could not be created Caller: /usr/share/YaST2/lib/yast2/fs_shapshot.rb:202: in 'create' Calling the YaST module 'inst_update_partition' has failed. More information can be found near the end of the '/var/log/YaST2/y2log' file
