Description Stefan Knorr 2016-02-24 11:04:13 UTC
+++ This bug was initially created as a clone of Bug #967203 +++

Originally reported by Donald Curtis (CC'd):

Leap 42.1 GRUB2 update to 2.02~beta2 (Build Date : Tuesday 29 December 2015 10:31:55 CET).

RC_LANG = de_DE.UTF-8
RC_LC_CTYPE="de_DE.UTF-8"
(All RC_LC_??? definitions are de_DE.UTF-8 except RC_LC_ALL="")

After the update the boot screen was displaying English language text.
Rewrote /boot/grub2/grub.cfg with YaST and the German language boot screen returned.

The same issue occurs with kernel updates.
Comment 1 Donald Curtis 2016-02-24 15:49:37 UTC
openSUSE 13.2 is also affected by this issue.
Comment 2 Tomáš Chvátal 2018-04-13 15:11:39 UTC
This is automated batch bugzilla cleanup.

The openSUSE 42.1 changed to end-of-life (EOL [1]) status. As such
it is no longer maintained, which means that it will not receive any
further security or bug fix updates.
As a result we are closing this bug.

If you can reproduce this bug against a currently maintained version of
openSUSE, or you can still observe it under openSUSE Leap 15.0, please
feel free to reopen this bug against that version (see the "Version"
component in the bug fields), or alternatively open
a new ticket.

Thank you for reporting this bug and we are sorry it could not be fixed
during the lifetime of the release.
