I have been accessing a MS Exchange Server using EWS with Evolution client without difficulty for a while, (OS 13.1, OS, 13.2 and LEAP 42.1 (since December 2015).

Now and again I was getting messages asking for my credentials again. These messages usually stop coming after a while, even if I do not renew my credentials. I just assume that there is a problem in the handshake with the server that gets solved after a while (e.g. server is down until restarted, timeout on the handshake, etc)

Now, however, although the MS Exchange server is up and running (proven by webmail access), I am continually getting access complaints from the server.

It seems that the cause of the problem lies in recent OpenSUSE updates (i.e. within the last two weeks, after 5.4.2016). I started my laptop for the first time since then and there were no problems with Evolution. I updated the 175 (!) packages that had become out of date in the meantime. Thereafter the authentication requests started coming every few seconds or so. A reboot did not help.

I am using:
Evolution 3.16.5-4.8
Evolution-ews 3.16.5-2.3
Gnome 3.16.2

Reproducible: Always

Please roll back the updates and find out which one specifically broke it. (binary search?)
Comment 2 Harvey Nimmo 2016-04-20 10:13:35 UTC
No previous versions, neither of Evolution nor of EWS, are available. I don't know why, but did that have something to do with the fact that a kernel update has been applied in hte last two weeks or so.
Comment 3 Andreas Stieger 2016-04-20 10:56:23 UTC
*Any* update between 5.4.2016 and time of failure, based on your claim.
Comment 4 Harvey Nimmo 2016-04-20 18:12:35 UTC
I'm not sure what you want to know with your last comment?

uname -a
Linux linux-lueh 4.1.20-11-default #1 SMP PREEMPT Fri Mar 18 14:42:07 UTC 2016 (0a392b2) x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

It seems that the kernel was updated on 2016-3-18. I could roll back to then, I suppose?
Comment 5 Forgotten User rwiaD0Rwva 2016-04-21 08:35:23 UTC
This is caused by samba 4.2.4-15.1 ... downgrade all samba packages to release 12.1
Comment 6 Forgotten User rwiaD0Rwva 2016-04-21 08:39:08 UTC
Workaround:
zypper install --oldpackage samba-winbind=4.2.4-12.1
Comment 7 Noel Power 2016-04-21 09:00:16 UTC
looks like another duplicate
