Description Forgotten User Mfp5y7JP5V 2016-07-05 10:11:26 UTC
I'm unable to lock my screen. I tried changing the shortcut (does not work, while all other shortcuts work). I also activated "automatic screen lock" after 30 seconds; but my screen never gets locked. I've got no idea where to look for error messages... I'd happily provide debug info if necessary.

Are you using GDM as display manager?
Comment 2 Forgotten User Mfp5y7JP5V 2016-09-02 05:53:25 UTC
no, for the moment I am using sddm; but I didn't really choose that actively. I installed opensuse leap with kde; but got problems with flickering; and installed gnome afterwards. I guess that installation chose sddm by default. I have many possible displaymanagers available; which ones would you recommend I try? What influence would that have on my work?

Possible Values: kdm, xdm, gdm, wdm, entrance, console, lightdm, sddm or any value

gnome screen locking only works if you login using gdm.

Make sure that gdm IS installed though!

The conclusion should also apply to bug 995062. I'm not sure if we can really fix this.
