Bugzilla – Bug 1023618
Lost boot options in boot menu after reinstall
Last modified: 2018-02-01 05:23:01 UTC
After a reinstallation I lost the other bootoptions like Windows7 and openSUSE LEAP 42.2.After login-in in tumbleweed I crrected the situation with Yast/System/bootloader. After rebooting I can correctly boot into the 2 other boot options and reboot again in tumbleweed. Only after a shutdown the other boot-options disappear again.
Can you somehow isolate the operation which causes the other options to disappear? Shutdown itself should be pretty harmless... How exactly did you "fix" it with YaST? It does not have section editor, you only can enable the OS prober...
Closing as there is no response since almost a month. If you can provide more details (as asked in previous comment), please, reopen.
Yesterday evening I updated the tumbleweed system (approx 500 updates) and shut the system down as soon as the system reported that the updates are installed successfully. This morning again all other boot options, like windows 7 and opensuse-Leap, are not available in boot menu. This happens regularly, but not always, after an update. I have corrected this situation by running Yast/system/bootloader without any new input.

Dup of 1076779, which fixed the missing Windows entry after update/install. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 1076779 ***
