Bugzilla – Bug 1095289
Trackpad/Touchpad inoperable on Leap 15.0 Install ISO
Last modified: 2023-07-14 08:32:46 UTC
Using a Lenovo T450s, the touchpad (Synaptics) and the TrackPoint are completely nonfunctional on the Leap 15.0 installation ISOs, both the full DVD and the Network install. Mouse does not move and mouse cicks are not registered at all. Xorg has no mention of a mouse input device in its log. Both are working fine on the GNOME LiveCD. I believe this is because the rmi_smbus and rmi_core modules are missing. I could not load them manually, they do not seem to exist. The following input is completely absent when running from the installation media but is found on a working system and the LiveCD: (DMESG) [ 2.433822] input: TPPS/2 IBM TrackPoint as /devices/platform/i8042/serio1/serio2/input/input6 [ 12.648824] input: TPPS/2 IBM TrackPoint as /devices/rmi4-00/rmi4-00.fn03/serio3/input/input21 [ 1.477904] psmouse serio1: synaptics: queried max coordinates: x [..5676], y [..4758] [ 1.505594] psmouse serio1: synaptics: queried min coordinates: x [1266..], y [1096..] [ 1.505599] psmouse serio1: synaptics: Trying to set up SMBus access [ 1.511333] psmouse serio1: synaptics: SMbus companion is not ready yet [ 1.572449] psmouse serio1: synaptics: Touchpad model: 1, fw: 8.1, id: 0x1e2b1, caps: 0xf004a3/0x943300/0x12e800/0x10000, board id: 3053, fw id: 2560 [ 1.572457] psmouse serio1: synaptics: serio: Synaptics pass-through port at isa0060/serio1/input0 [ 12.053443] psmouse serio1: synaptics: queried max coordinates: x [..5676], y [..4758] [ 12.085027] psmouse serio1: synaptics: queried min coordinates: x [1266..], y [1096..] [ 12.085040] psmouse serio1: synaptics: Trying to set up SMBus access (/proc/bus/input/devices) I: Bus=001d Vendor=06cb Product=0000 Version=0000 N: Name="Synaptics TM3053-004" P: Phys=rmi4-00/input0 S: Sysfs=/devices/rmi4-00/input/input20 U: Uniq= H: Handlers=mouse0 event15 B: PROP=5 B: EV=b B: KEY=e520 10000 0 0 0 0 B: ABS=6f3800001000003 I: Bus=0011 Vendor=0002 Product=000a Version=0000 N: Name="TPPS/2 IBM TrackPoint" P: Phys=rmi4-00.fn03/serio0/input0 S: Sysfs=/devices/rmi4-00/rmi4-00.fn03/serio3/input/input21 U: Uniq= H: Handlers=mouse1 event16 B: PROP=21 B: EV=7 B: KEY=70000 0 0 0 0 B: REL=3
Steffen - something for installation images?
Fixed with https://github.com/openSUSE/installation-images/pull/251 For the time being you can build your own Leap image that includes the module. For this, grab kernel-default.rpm and run mksusecd -c new.iso --modules rmi_smbus.ko --kernel kernel-default.rpm leap15.iso (rmi_core is already included).
