Description Geri Broser 2022-09-18 20:00:36 UTC
After installing openSUSE Tumbleweed a few days ago I realized that the mic input isn't recognized whatsoever. (It is with Win on this XMG U706 dual-boot laptop: https://download.schenker-tech.de/package/xmg-u506-u706/)

I checked https://en.opensuse.org/SDB:Audio_troubleshooting#Configuring_the_microphone which mentions kmix. I installed it but when launching it from within Discover it appears in the panel for a few seconds and then...nothing more.

Could you run alsa-info.sh with --no-upload option (as root), and attach the output to Bugzilla? Don't paste but use attachments.

The alsa-info output looks normal, all devices seem properly detected.

Could you try to install pvaucontrol and test with it instead of kmix?

pavucontrol is running. See attachment pavucontrol-Volume-Control.png.

Correction:

PulseAudio system tray > Default Source > none

Hmm, strange.

Then first off, check with "alsamixer -c0" and see whether you can see the capture elements there (switch with TAB key).

If a proper capture stuff is there, try to uninstall alsa-ucm-conf package once, and relogin.

If the problem still persists, it's a problem of pipewire, and we need a detailed log from pipewire for further analysis.

See bug 1210553 for user condition. Resolving noresponse.
