User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:102.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/102.0
Build Identifier:

I have updated the Leap 15.4 kernel today, 17.03.2023, ca. 17:00 on 2 machines (desktop with Intel Core i5-6400, laptop with Intel Core i3-1005G1) from "5.14.21-150400.24.46-default" to "5.14.21-150400.24.49-default".
Download and install went OK, but after the restart, the PCs stopped booting after GRUB having the new kernel selected and after showing the first initial kernel message "x86/cpu: SGX disabled by BIOS"
There they hung hard, i.e. not reaction on keyboard, no blinking keyboard LEDs. Both PC needed to be turned off and on again to restart, where the same problem occurred again.
Both PCs could then be restarted again with no error using the previous kernel "5.14.21-150400.24.46-default".

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Install kernel 5.14.21-150400.24.49-default using YaST Online Update
2.Reboot PC
3.Select kernel 5.14.21-150400.24.49-default in GRUB
4.Boot selected kernel 5.14.21-150400.24.49-default
Actual Results:
PC hangs after first kernel message on screen
Keyboard "dead": No keyboard LEDs (NumLock), no LEDs blinking

Expected Results:
PC should have booted successfully using kernel 5.14.21-150400.24.49-default

Happend on 2 different PCs (older desktop, laptop)
Happens everytime
PC is "dead" and needs power off/on to restart -> Ctrl-Alt-Del is not working

Same here, system goes to hard freeze, tried some kernel parameters etc. unless I disable intel driver system won't boot. Happens on two very different hardware, one MSI GS66 notebook the other is quite old (10 years) desktop PC with Asus P8Z77-V LX motherboard. These devices are too different that I would believe if someone said no Intel video card is working.

Futher tested on my affected laptop by booting .49 in recovery mode:
Booting stops right after switching fb0 from EFI VGA to i915
Comment 3 Thomas Schmid 2023-03-17 17:39:23 UTC
Both my affected machines use intel graphics driver, no extra graphics card
Comment 4 Reimar Imhof 2023-03-17 18:46:17 UTC
Same problem here with Lenovo ideapad 3 using intel iris internal graphics.
The notebook boots well using kernel 6.2.6 from download.opensuse.org/repositories/Kernel:/stable:/Backport/standard/
