Bugzilla – Bug 168603
Wrong Hebrew translation for "paritioning"
Last modified: 2007-09-17 11:40:05 UTC
The translation used is מיחוץ which is not a valid Hebrew word. The only valid way of translating this is to use the action itself: "חלוקה למחיצות".
Please use Bugzilla component "translations" for translation-related issues.
AFAIK, at the moment we lack active Hebrew translator (Hebrew translations are made by volunteers).
ATM, 12% of yast is translated, and nothing got fixed for quite some time. I'm wondering wether we better disable Hebrew completely for the moment? Of course, we would still continue to support Hebrew at the desktop level, if enough Gnome or KDE translations are available. What do you think?
No answer thus far. I propose for 11.0 to remove yast2-trans-he from the installation media, just keep it in factory. What needs to be done to accomplish this?
I can do that. Just assign the bug against Patterns if you have such a request. Is -he the only one with bad stats?
yes, but bad stats per se are not bad (= we should ship them). But -he features also bad translations and that why we would like to see them removed from the product. Thus far, no one complained about other languages.
Steffen, anything you need to do for installation images to remove he?
The inst-sys yast2-trans-* package list is autogenerated (from pdb afaik). Karl knows more, iirc.
before this bug turns in circles: the package is off the DVD. The installation image is done by stats, so it hebrew is gone now?
I will also add it as a conflicting package to yast2-trans-allpacks. Then it is probably still available as part of factory, but Steffen will not list it as an option. I hope this way we can break the circle.
ok, according to the PDB, it is now "frozen". This means that I do not need to adjust my script; resubmitting the package is sufficient.
