Description Bruno Antunes 2006-09-20 19:47:19 UTC
I had a problem with the rt2500 driver, that was working in the initial SUSE 10.1 version, but that as stoped working after an update of SuSE. I have reported this issue in the rt2500 project, but they suspect that this seems to be and issue with ACPI and PCMCIA bus on SUSE 10.1

I normally install the RMPMS versions of the drivers found in the packman site but i have also have compiled and installed the drivers manually and face the following problem.

When I Insert my card, an Asus WL-107g, in the system log files we can seen that the "driver" will enter in loop with an ACPI: PCI Interrupt event. The card will not initialize:

=== START HERE ===

... [this will never end until I ehect the card] ...

http://rt2x00.serialmonkey.com
Sep 9 19:01:48 caruncho kernel: PCMCIA: socket
f792bc28: *** DANGER *** unable to remove socket power
=== END HERE ===

I have also turned off acpi, and the error still happens, this time no message with the "ACPI: PCI Interrupt". I have only the message with:

=== START HERE ===
Sep 16 12:14:18 caruncho kernel: rt2500 1.1.0 CVS CVS
http://rt2x00.serialmonkey.com
...
=== END HERE ===
 (this message will appear constantly until i eject/stop my pcmcia card

Note: I am not using NetworkManager

Please escalate problems with 3rd party packages/drivers to the people that are acutally maintaining it.
Comment 2 Bruno Antunes 2006-09-20 23:23:35 UTC
I have reported this same issue initially in the rt2400/rt2500 Linux Driver project. there we can find information that this could be some problem in acpi or pcmcia bus in SUSE, and not in the rt2500 driver.
