Description macias - 2006-12-10 14:44:49 UTC
KDE 3.5.5, opensuse 10.2

Let's say I have to install software from CD1 and CD2. When I am asked to insert CD2 instead of CD1, and I do it, Konqueror pops up with CD2 contents.
Yast should block such auto-notification.

I'm not sure whether it's a good idea.

There might be more CD devices in the system, one device can be used for installing software the other one can be used for playing music etc. and auto notification should be enabled to play it automatically.

And even if you have just one device you might want to do another task after installing from CD1 which requires notification enabled and then continue from CD2...

I am not saying to block all auto-mounts, but for this drive. Let's say there is CD1 in drive-X, now the user has to insert CD2
* insertion of CD2
* konqueror pops up
* close konq.
* click ok
* insert. of CD3
* konqueror pops up
* close konq.
* click ok
and so on...

Maybe there is another solution, but for sure -- this is very annoying (and confusing users -- because you have to know, that this popup is not intended side-effect).

I thought about this again and concluded that it is not worth the effort to do this reasonably. We agree that disabling the automount for all devices during the the whole libzypp session makes no sence. But disabling the automount per-device also does not make much sense; libzypp now supports use of multiple CD drives and it can't know where you will put the next CD. This leaves us with the case of one CD drive and multiple CDs, which is too much additional code for little benefit.
