Description Matthias Hopf 2006-12-13 15:13:41 UTC
In previous versions of SUSE Linux firefox had another file dialog implementation that could be selected with MOZ_XUL_PICKER=1.

In the new firefox version, not only has this patch been removed, but the file dialog has been converted into a usability nightmare. I'm constantly biting into my keyboard whenever I want to save some image from a web page, or the source from the current page.

Given that you cannot select "open in firefox" or similar (for data types like application/x-log of which firefox thinks it cannot display, even though they are ascii), this happens even more often than necessary. But that is a different issue.

For GTK filepicker usability please open a bug in component Gnome.
For the 'different issue' please file a different bug and for getting the old filepicker RTFM;-)

Works like a charm. Thanks so much :-)))

Was this announced somewhere? Didn't read it in the release notes...

Gnome filepicker usability is now bug #228318.

P.S. I would rather call this RESOLVED FIXED, but I actually don't care as long as I'm happy with the solution ;)
