NetworkManager doesn't connect to WLAN on login anymore.

IBM Thinkpad A31p laptop with built in ethernet and wlan card. Since the bult in wlan card only supplies 11 Mbit/s I am using a Netgear WGT 511T PCMCIA card instead. In Yast, the ethernet card is configured with a static íp, the built in wlan is not configured and the Netgear card is DHCP configured. openSUSE 10.2 with KDE desktop. The Netgear card is using madwifi driver version 0.92 from madwifi.org/suse/10.2. Before I upgraded to 10.2 I used the same configuration in SL 10.1 and after I logged in KNetworkManager choosed the Netgear card and connected to my encrypted WLAN with 54 Mbit/s and KWalletManager asked for my password. Everything as expected. Now, in openSUSE 10.2, KNetworkManager doesn't logg in at all and KWalletManager doesn't ask me for the password. Instead the KNetworkManager icon looks as if it was connected to a wired LAN, similar to bug 224261, and I need to manually connect to the wireless LAN. At first I thought it was the built in wlan card that caused the problem so I've tried to configure it not to activate on boot but that instead resulted in it actually being activated and that KNetworkManager connected to the wlan with 11 Mbit/s using that card!? Next, I tried to remove the built-in card completely from Yast but when I reboot it's back again, not configured. Last step was to configure the access point so that it only accept connections from the mac address of the Netgear Card and only with the g protocol. I thought maybe this step would make networkmanager to choose the Netgear card and connect with 54 Mbit/ since the built in card is not allowed to connect to the network at all. No luck, same problem and I'm stuck being forced to connect manually. Please next post for attachement.

Is your network broadcasting its ESSID? Please try moving the wireless network to the fallback group in KNetworkManager (Options -> Show Networks). Then restart KNetworkManager.
Yes my network is broadcasting it's ESSID since bug 175852 wasn't really solved with madwifi 0.92 as I hoped for. Moved my wireless network to the fallback group as requested and restarted KNetworkManager. After restarting the KNetworkManager icon shows up as if it was connected to a wired connection, had to connect manually to my wireless network. Same result after shutting down and restarting the laptop completely. Wired icon and KWalletManager never ask me for the password.
Would you mind trying the same with GNOME? That would help us to see whether this is a NetworkManager issue or if this happens with KNetworkManager only. For that it should be enough to install NetworkManager-gnome and use 'nm-applet' instead of KNetworkManager.
Yes sure I'll be glad to help you in any way I can. I have only used KDE never Gnome, did I understand this correct that I can keep my KDE desktop environment and install the Gnome version you mentioned? Do I need to uninstall KNetworkManager or anything else?
Ok, installed NetworkManager-gnome and used the nm-applet. Exactly the same problem, states it connected to a wired network but it isn't..

Should be fixed in opensuse 11.0 (rc1).
