I could not log in this morning after a regular reboot. In /var/log/messages it said 
Mar 25 12:55:10 dionysos auditd[2873]: Audit daemon has no space left on logging partition

The system partition (/) was 100% full and the culprit was found in /var/log/YaST2/zypper.log which had blown up to 6GB.

The last 100000 lines or so in the file say only this:

2007-03-24 19:26:37 <1> dionysos(4877) [zypper] zypper.cc(one_command):485 System sources enabled
