Description Philipp Schmieder 2007-07-07 20:58:34 UTC
Hello,
I've just checked out the "Branding Overview" in the OpenSUSE wiki (http://en.opensuse.org/Branding_Overview:os10.3) and in my eyes and in the ones of several people I asked, the lines in this image make up a tick (you know, these beasty little bloodsucking spiders).
I think this is a real "show stopper" so it would be nice if this was changed.

I made an image showing a tick on the wallpaper which should make this more understandable:

I agree with Philipp, all I can see when I look at that picture is:

I'm kidding, I actually see a broken egg spilling out its yolk. Either way, I don't like how it looks. Although I think that it's severity should be downgraded.

At least it's the wrong component.

+1, the tick/leech/alien associations it provokes are unpleasant. It makes me feel slightly nauseous. Jimmac, I know the best artists are impervious to criticism, but could you come up with something more abstract? Maybe we can ship this version as SUSE-Alien-Geeko - then the 14 year old X Files watching market segment will be happy.

I have to agree. Will look at this again. ALso, I think I have to revert back to blue. Green just doesn't cut it for the wallpaper :/
Comment 6 Stephan Binner 2007-07-21 10:37:05 UTC
Using green for bootsplash + login + splash and blue for the wallpaper isn't really consistent, or? So change everything back to blue? :-)
Comment 7 Jakub Steiner 2007-07-22 19:18:50 UTC
Stephan, I've had this discussion a million times now. Why does a blue wallpaper make things suddenly inconsistent? We will have all splashes geenish. Green splash on green background don't sound so hot either.

Inconsistent icons, yes that is irking me for ages, but the widget background not being green doesn't necessarily make it inconsistent. Especially when it signals that the system is finally finished booting at last!

Submitted new, blue wallpaper.
