Bugzilla – Bug 295500
wireless Intel ipw3945 detected as ethernet adaptor
Last modified: 2007-08-12 19:06:12 UTC
Hardware IBM/Lenovo Thinkpad T60 with Intel wireless card (ipw3945) Detected as eth1 (OK, same on suse10.2) Network setup: Traditional Method with ifup When configuring network via yast2, the wireless device is shown as: Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection When "Configure", on the "Hardware" tab you can see that the right module (ipw3945) will be loaded. On the "Address" tab you can see that "Device Type" is "Ethernet" and not "Wireless" as it should be. The consequence is that the page to configure the wlan access will not appear when you press "Next". (when I copy the configuration from suse10.2 as ifcfg-eth1, the connection works perfect)
Please attach y2logs. If you are in doubt follow: http://en.opensuse.org/Bugs/YaST Thanks!
Created attachment 155641 [details] yast logs I retried the configuration (see last log). This time, the dialog for wlan configuration appeared, but afterwards the device was still not configured.
network in alpha6 was broken try alpha7 please
With alpha7 it is not possible for another reason: the kernel module is missing! see https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=297629
ugh, I see Can you download that package from alpha6? I hope will be compatible
With the module from alpha6 on alpha7: Configuration with yast2 lan works.
