Sometimes when clicking a menu item in openoffice, X hangs on my workstation.

This is more likely to happen the longer the machine has been up and the bigger X's virtual size seems to be.

I have tried disabling 3D and hw acceleration in Tools->Options->View to no avail.

Logging in remotely shows X using 100% cpu.  ctrl-alt backspace does not kill X.

Have to reboot tp get X back.

I have an nvidia 7600 GT AGP card.

I've seen this with every openoffice release for 10.2 and updates and also with
openoffice 2.2 from the stable repository.
