Bugzilla – Bug 303842
cannot restore grub when boot partition is reiserfs
Last modified: 2009-04-17 15:33:28 UTC
I tried to restore grub using the install cd, but it seems trying to mount the boot partition as ext3 when in fact it is reiserfs. After a partition & fstab checks all finished ok.
Please, attach YaST logs.
Any news here?
I didn't have time yet. Btw how can I get the logs if I'm working with the installation media ?
Please, see this howto: http://en.opensuse.org/Bugs/YaST
Created attachment 161105 [details] Yast logs. The boot partition is /dev/hda3
clients/inst_system_analysis.ycp:429 Calling inst_repair /bin/mount /dev/hda3 /mnt exit: 0 There are several errors reported in y2log for the bootloader however it's better to have it checked by maintainer of `yast repair` before reassigning to maintainer of bootloader.
YaST log contains also these errors: Kernel.ycp:373 Argument (cpuinfo_flags) to size(...) is nil Kernel.ycp:373 Nil can be compared only for equality and non-equality Kernel.ycp:373 Condition expression evaluates to nil in ?: expression - Fixing evaluation of unreadable cpuflags in Kernel.ycp (#303842). - yast2-2.15.51
I believe (= I do not have time to check this, I'm on vacation) the bug (if any) is in bootloader code, as repair only uses its routines.
No ressources assigned here right now, will address problem later
reevaluate for SLE11
the bug has same symptoms like bug #408733. it is about troubles with calling perl-Bootloader from yast2-bootloader. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 408733 ***
