Bugzilla – Bug 304012
Cannot use ipw2200 wireless card
Last modified: 2007-08-28 19:29:34 UTC
Cannot use my IPW2200 wireless card (ipw-firmware package installed). The system boots with wireless on, but dmesg doesn't report anything wrong about it. Only after power off and then power on (via wireless button), dmesg says something useful, I think: ipw2200: Failed to send SCAN_ABORT: Command timed out. ipw2200: Failed to send CARD_DISABLE: Command timed out. YaST detects my card but KNetworkManager doesn't. 10.3Beta2 KDE CD Install.
Could you please attach output of 'iwconfig', 'lsmod' and the whole dmesg?

That is most probably bug #303834. Please re-open if that is not the case. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 303834 ***
Created attachment 159785 [details] /var/log/message log I think it's not. IPW2200 doesn't use iwlwifi package nor ipw3945. The issue might be related with firmware.sh or the file it is requesting but not found: firmware.sh[2885]: Cannot find firmware file 'intel-ucode/06-0d-08' See messages log file attached.
Reopening...
Did a new fresh installation and after the installation of the ipw-firmware package I got wireless working. _BUT_ after rebooting wireless gone and I get those "Command timed out" messages, everything just like last time... Also tried to re-install it (updating and remove & install) but without any lucky :-/
Updated to Factory (28 Aug) and now it seems fixed. ipw-firmware RPM didn't got any updated version so I think the problem was out of it. Closing as fixed...
