Description Franz Mueller 2007-09-11 08:54:05 UTC
I found that (k)networkmanager and/or iwlwifi (iwl3945) is not able to connect to wireless networks with hidden ssid's. A workaround for this bug is connecting via knetworkmanager and shortly after that set ssid manually via

iwconfig wlan0 essid THEHIDDENSSID

or enable broadcasting ssid

After that the association works properly. Installing diffrent versions of networkmanager-kde and networkmanager didn't help so i guess that it's a problem of the new iwl3945. In openSuSE 10.2 with the out-of-the-box ipw3945 module, association with hidden ssid worked fine.

tried versions:

openSuSE 10.3 Beta 3 out-of-the box
NetworkManager 0.6.5-28.3 (+glib)
NetworkManager 0.6.4-105-3 (=openSuSE 10.2) (+glib)
NetworkManager-kde-0.2-4.2

/var/log/NetworkManager after failed association:
