Description Forgotten User eLsunDoIeb 2007-09-27 06:20:29 UTC
System randomly freezes during boot: sometimes not for two weeks, sometimes five toimes in a row. I start the computer usually with external USB mouse and keyboard plugged in.

When it freezes, only the power-off button will help / hard reset.

The bug is reproducible in that it always freezes at about the same position:
* last message is something like "usb XXX-1: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice"
* or it freezes at "Activating device mapper..."

My computer is an ACER Travelmate 4202 with Intel CoreDuo processor T2300 and Intel GMA 950 integrated graphics.

Output of "uname -a":

    Linux savitri 2.6.18.8-0.5-default #1 SMP Fri Jun 22 12:17:53 UTC 2007 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux

Output of a successful boot with "dmesg" is printed below.

Is there anything known about such a bug? And I would appreciate not having to switch off acpi.

If the system freezes the next time, I can post the /var/log/boot.msg file. Sorry, I don't have it at hand now.

What is sure: the error did not occur with SUSE 10.1!!! It seems to be a software bug.

Thanks, Karsten
