Description David Bahi 2007-10-09 14:47:13 UTC
installed openSUSE 10.3
fetched updates
plugged in ipod

banshee didn't start

started banshee manually - and it reports:

  DBus is not available

Your environment is not properly set up to use DBus.
Please fix your environment or run Banshee through dbus-
launch. Failure to do so may caouse problems at a later time
  in Banshee during this instance.

Unable to open the session message bus.

syslog of ipod mounting failure

this may have been because the ipod didn't seem to get mounted properly - there was no icon on the desktop - and i've attached the msg log - reseting the ipod allowed banshee to auto-launch properly

still - the banshee error message was misleading, no? can we morph this bug in to a request to better report for this case (sadly failing ipods can't be too rare).
Comment 2 David Bahi 2007-10-09 17:54:20 UTC
nope - comment #1 is misleading - this happened again with the ipod fully mounted and browsable.
Comment 3 Mark Gordon 2007-10-09 20:37:33 UTC
Possible duplicate of Bug 331577
Comment 4 JP Rosevear 2007-10-15 15:17:58 UTC
