Bugzilla – Bug 332392
install failure refers to nonexistent support URL
Last modified: 2007-10-25 12:05:56 UTC
Failure to install (upgrade) to one of my machines resulted in a message to consult this URL: http://support.novell.com/techcenter/sdb/en/2003/03/fha which does not, apparently, exist. I was using the text mode interface and I will attach the files from the install (which, fortunately, I knew how to get at and copy around).
Created attachment 177239 [details] Yast2 logs
I see some errors about this: Report.ycp:484 Failed to mount target system RootPart.ycp:1236 Could not mount root '/dev/hda3' to '/mnt' 2007-10-09 18:30:43 <3> 192.168.1.1(3311) [bash] ShellCommand.cc(shellcommand):78 /usr/bin/find: /mnt/var/lib: No such file or directory 2007-10-09 18:30:43 <3> 192.168.1.1(3311) [YCP] RootPart.ycp:613 There are only 0 files in /var/lib/hardware/, translation needn't work! so reassigned to storage maintainer
Looke mor like a problem in update code to me.
The links is not http://support.novell.com/techcenter/sdb/en/2003/03/fha but http://support.novell.com/techcenter/sdb/en/2003/03/fhassel_update_not_possible.html It seems that the text-interface cuts long lines off :( Anyway, could you, please describe your problem: how did you get there? I can see you were trying to upgrade /dev/hda3, have you done anything special to your openSUSE 10.3 installation (media), why it didn't translate it to /dev/sda?
This could help you too: http://en.opensuse.org/How_To_Upgrade_System_with_Separate_/var_Partition
