Description Per Ångström 2007-10-14 16:44:47 UTC
Using the installation DVD (64-bit) on my Compaq nx7400 laptop to run "Repair Installed System" fails and brings up the character-based installer.

The failure occurs just after the graphical installer has started loading, that is, after the kernel has been loaded and initialized. The system is switched into graphical mode, the hour-glass cursor is briefly visible, and then the character-based installer displays "An error occurred during the installation". On one of the consoles I can see the following debug message:

"hal-setup-keyma[2245]: segfault at 0000000000 rip 00002b69dd76b2a3 rsp 00007fffcda1be98 error 4"

It should be noted that I don't get this failure when I run the normal Installation option.
