Description Miguel Angel Barajas 2007-10-17 17:57:31 UTC
java-1.5.0-sun-1.5.0_update13 doesn't copy or make a link of libjavaplugin_oji.so to /usr/lib/browser-plugins/ so firefox doesn't reconize java applet after the today update.

I can also confirm this problem.

The actual problem is that after installing java-1.5.0-sun-1.5.0_update13
The link
/etc/alternatives/javaplugin still points to /usr/lib/jvm/java-1.5.0-sun-1.5.0_update12/jre/plugin/i386/ns7/libjavaplugin_oji.so , which is a dead-end.

The link shall point to:
/usr/lib/jvm/java-1.5.0-sun-1.5.0_update13/jre/plugin/i386/ns7/libjavaplugin_oji.so

A new update (update14) should be released as soon as possible to fix this problem.

I have another SuSE installation where I have chosen to install java-1.6.0.

With the update (1.6.0.u3-0.1) for Java 1.6 there is a similar problem, namely that many of the links in /etc/alternatives are dead links after installing the update, resulting in (among other problems) firefox not finding the java plugin.

To Martin, I thought you would be interested in this bug, so I added you as CC.

Seems to work with the latest update...

I am unable to get my 10.3 x64 to install the java 1.5 update13 patches as it complains about resolvables

2 Problems:
Problem: No valid solution found with just resolvables of best architecture.
Problem: java-1_5_0-sun-plugin cannot be installed due to missing dependencies

Problem: No valid solution found with just resolvables of best architecture.
With this run only resolvables with the best architecture have been regarded.
Regarding all possible resolvables takes time, but can come to a valid result.
Solution 1: Make a solver run with ALL possibilities.
Regarding all resolvables with a compatible architecture.
