Bugzilla – Bug 334657
java-1.5.0-sun-1.5.0_update13 doesn't works
Last modified: 2007-11-02 16:36:07 UTC
java-1.5.0-sun-1.5.0_update13 doesn't copy or make a link of libjavaplugin_oji.so to /usr/lib/browser-plugins/ so firefox doesn't reconize java applet after the today update. nightmare:/usr/lib/browser-plugins # rpm -qi java-1_5_0-sun-plugin-1.5.0_update13-0.1Name : java-1_5_0-sun-plugin Relocations: (not relocatable) Version : 1.5.0_update13 Vendor: SUSE LINUX Products GmbH, Nuernberg, Germany Release : 0.1 Build Date: Wed 10 Oct 2007 11:30:46 AM CDT Install Date: Wed 17 Oct 2007 08:57:31 AM CDT Build Host: bragg.suse.de Group : Development/Languages/Java Source RPM: java-1_5_0-sun-1.5.0_update13-0.1.nosrc.rpm Size : 1824689 License: Any commercial Signature : DSA/SHA1, Wed 10 Oct 2007 12:34:53 PM CDT, Key ID a84edae89c800aca Packager : http://bugs.opensuse.org URL : http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/ Summary : Browser plugin files for java-1_5_0-sun Description : This package contains browser plugin files for java-1_5_0-sun. I can also confirm this problem. The actual problem is that after installing java-1.5.0-sun-1.5.0_update13 The link /etc/alternatives/javaplugin still points to /usr/lib/jvm/java-1.5.0-sun-1.5.0_update12/jre/plugin/i386/ns7/libjavaplugin_oji.so , which is a dead-end. The link shall point to: /usr/lib/jvm/java-1.5.0-sun-1.5.0_update13/jre/plugin/i386/ns7/libjavaplugin_oji.so A new update (update14) should be released as soon as possible to fix this problem.
I have another SuSE installation where I have chosen to install java-1.6.0. With the update (1.6.0.u3-0.1) for Java 1.6 there is a similar problem, namely that many of the links in /etc/alternatives are dead links after installing the update, resulting in (among other problems) firefox not finding the java plugin. To Martin, I thought you would be interested in this bug, so I added you as CC. Jarl
please check against the updates released today. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 334783 ***
Seems to work with the latest update...
I am unable to get my 10.3 x64 to install the java 1.5 update13 patches as it complains about resolvables 2 Problems: Problem: No valid solution found with just resolvables of best architecture. With this run only resolvables with the best architecture have been regarded. Regarding all possible resolvables takes time, but can come to a valid result.
