Description Jürgen Sandner 2007-10-23 09:22:53 UTC
The Vmware Player worked after installing Opensuse 10.3 from the official DVDs, we bought.
After doing an online-update of glibc to version 2.6.1-18.2 it couldn't start a virtual machine any more.
/usr/lib/vmware-vmx crashes and vmplayer notes, that it has no connection to it.

This happens on Intel Core2Duo 6600
After reinstalling the original glibc packages, it works again.

On an AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 2800+ it doesn't seem to happen ...

Could you check of #328486 applies to you, i.e. that using the rpm package from
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=328486#c23 fixes your problem.
Comment 2 Jürgen Sandner 2007-10-23 11:43:06 UTC
Yes, installing it with rpm --force makes vmplayer run again and makes me happy :-)
So the problem was glibc-32bit.

The link was wrong, though: should be ftp.suse.com, not ftp.suse.de.

Thank you
